Safeguarding Dashboards were commended during a debate at General Synod in July 2022.
The Reverend Canon Claire Lording, vicar of four parishes in the Diocese of Worcester, said:
"I give thanks for the change of culture that I have witnessed during my years as a parish priest, and entirely support the need for safeguarding to be at the heart of our entire church culture....
But now I give thanks for the Safeguarding Dashboard, that has enabled corporate responsibility to become the most natural way of engaging with safeguarding."
In response, the Right Reverend Jonathan Gibbs - the Lead Safeguarding Bishop in the Church of England - said:
"Thank you so much for your comments, and in particular your affirmation of the Safeguarding Dashboard. I know that it has been extremely well received right across the dioceses. I have heard some really positive comments about that, and we are very grateful indeed for the work that has gone into that. And, absolutely, we all want to serve in a church that does better in the area of safeguarding."
About Safeguarding Dashboards
Safeguarding Dashboards are now being used by 7,000 parishes across 36 dioceses in the Church of England. One Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser has previously said:
"Without exception, everyone who has used this system finds it overwhelmingly helpful and supportive. Parish Safeguarding Officers say that they did not know how they managed without it."
